[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Vaccination Information

vaccinePic

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has developed a phased vaccination plan and has responsibility for distributing and administering COVID-19 vaccinations in the County.  The Alabama Department of Public Health has stated all COVID-19 vaccination appointments made through county health departments are full at this time.

ADPH has opened an online portal at https://www.alcovidvaccine.gov/ to make vaccine appointments for COVID-19 , check their eligibility and locate drive-thru and walk-in vaccine clinics in the area. Also, the UAB vaccine portal for scheduling is https://uabmedicinevaccine.org

Beginning Monday, February 8th, everyone 65 and older; educators; grocery store workers; some manufacturing workers; public transit workers; agriculture employees; state legislators and constitutional officers are eligible to get vaccinations. See more online vaccine scheduling websites and phone numbers at https://covid19.shelbyal.com.

The ADPH vaccine hotline is also still active at (1-855-566-5333). This statewide hotline is active from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. seven days a week. You may also get on the waiting list by calling the local Shelby County ADPH lines at 205-685-4190 or 205-664-2470.  You can also call Veterans Administration Vaccine Call Center at 866-487-4243.    View vaccination locations.  Additional locations in Shelby County have been identified and will be published once vaccine doses are available.  The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) knows that many Alabamians are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available to their risk group. As the supply of COVID-19 vaccine is limited at the moment, ADPH is following the guidance of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for prioritization of risk groups.

Vaccine Update: A newly created map is available on the ADPH COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Dashboard: arcg.is/OrCey. The map depicts sites other than hospitals that have been selected to receive vaccine. The state's allocation is minimal, so many sites may not have vaccine on hand.   While hospitals in a few areas of the state have begun vaccinating other groups, most hospitals are still working to ensure their frontline workers are vaccinated. Information about hospital vaccine availability will be added later when vaccine is available for additional groups.
