Juvenile Court Services

We have a group of dedicated professionals, who hold children accountable for their actions and help them achieve success.

Juvenile Probation Officers and office personnel can be reached at the number provided or by email. If your child is in crisis or there is a safety concern, call law enforcement immediately. If you need to speak to your child’s probation officer or report a probation violation, please call the office at (205) 669-3831.

The Probation Office is comprised of:

• A director of court services / chief juvenile probation officer
• A probation supervisor
• An intake officer
• Seven field probation officers
• Two mental health liaisons
• A coordinator of the Children’s Policy Council
• An administrative assistant
• An operation clerk

In addition to probation staff, we have two court-appointed attorneys who represent children beginning at the point of intake. Court appointed attorneys represent the child in juvenile matters. Parents have the option to retain an attorney for their child; a retained attorney would need to file a notice of appearance with the Juvenile Clerk prior to gaining information concerning the case.

We also work closely with the District Attorney's office as well. There is an assistant district attorney (ADA) assigned to juvenile court. This ADA has an understanding of the purpose of juvenile court's rehabilitative approach in working with juveniles and works to assist in your child's success while holding him/her accountable for their actions and protecting the victims and the community.
