The Policy Board guided the development of the 2024-2028 Consolidated Plan and recommended the plan to the Shelby County Commission, which has responsibility and authority for approval and implementation of the CDBG Program. As part of this plan, the Board formulated strategies, established goals, laid out objectives, and set priorities based on needs assessment feedback from residents and stakeholders. In developing the 2024 Annual Action Plan and subsequent annual action plans, the Board establishes a competitive scoring and ranking application process, evaluates project applications, and recommends the best projects to the Shelby County Commission.
The Board consists of a representative from each of the thirteen participating municipalities in the Urban County and the County Manager, who represents Shelby County. The County Manager chairs the Board. Each participating municipality also selects an alternate in the event a member is unable to attend a meeting. Alternates are encouraged to attend the meetings to keep informed of the Policy Board's actions and provide additional input.
